EXTENDED APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 5, 2024. LeMoyne Arts is excited to announce the partnership with PROOF Brewing CO. to hold our second can-art label competition during LeMoyne’s opening year exhibit of 2024. PROOF will judge the competition and select ONE can-artwork to be the featured label on one of their custom brewed beers. The winning can artwork is scheduled to launch at LeMoyne’s Chain of Parks Art Festival held on April 20 & 21, 2024! In celebration of Tallahassee’s Bicentennial, the designs should focus on Tallahassee landmarks, heritage, and culture. Artists are welcome to submit as many designs as they would like, to be reviewed by LeMoyne’s Artists Review Committee. The selected designs will go on display in LeMoyne’s Albrecht & Hoover Gallery space. The exhibit will be on view from Tuesday, January 16 – Saturday, February 24, 2024. PROOF will announce the competitions winning design during the exhibit opening, Tuesday, January 16, 5:00 – 7:30pm.

Thank you for your interest in participating in our Bicentennial Brew: A Taste of Tallahassee contest! 
 
LeMoyne Arts is excited to announce the partnership with PROOF Brewing Co. to hold our second can-art label competition during LeMoyne’s opening exhibit of 2024. PROOF will judge the competition and select ONE can-artwork to be the featured label on one of their custom-brewed beers. The winning can artwork is scheduled to launch at LeMoyne’s Chain of Parks Art Festival held on April 20 & 21, 2024!
 
In celebration of Tallahassee’s Bicentennial, the designs should focus on Tallahassee landmarks, heritage, and culture.
 
Artists are welcome to submit as many designs as they would like, to be reviewed by LeMoyne’s Artists Review Committee. The selected designs will go on display in LeMoyne’s Albrecht & Hoover Gallery space. The exhibit will be on view from Tuesday, January 16 – Saturday, February 24, 2024. PROOF will announce the competition winning design during the exhibit opening, Tuesday, January 16, from 5:00 – 7:30 pm.
 
Artists will need to add their artwork to PROOF’s design template, attached to this application. LeMoyne will show the original artwork next to the printed design, which must be framed and ready to hang in a gallery (wire hanging is strongly preferred). If you don’t have graphic design skills, LeMoyne staff can help you for a small fee. 
 
Artists are encouraged to take behind-the-scenes photos while they work for marketing purposes. Please email them (with descriptions) to chloe@lemoyne.org. 
 
Make sure to check your junk mail for Eventeny messages. All communication will be sent through their system. 
 
Important Dates: 
1. Application Deadline: December 18, 2023, at 11:59 PM
  • You may make edits and add additional designs to your application until the deadline.
  • Please avoid making up ingredients or adding wordy copy, purely looking for creative artwork that can fit within the template and celebrate Tallahassee.
 
2. Drop-off: January 10-11, 2024 from 1:00-6:00 PM
  • If special arrangements are needed, please contact staff at chloe@lemoyne.org.
  • Your approved work must be reviewed by staff upon arrival to ensure that hanging mechanisms are up to our standards. 
 
3. Exhibit Opening & Announcement of Competition Winner: January 16, 2024
  • The Opening will have live music, food, a bar, and fun! Free for LeMoyne Arts Members, children under 12, and Exhibit Artists, $5 for non-members and guests. PROOF's judges will announce the winner during this event!
 
4. Last Day of Exhibition: February 24, 2024
 
5. Artwork Pickup: February 26-27,2024
  •  Unsold artwork must be picked up between 11:00-6:00 pm unless other arrangements are made. For arrangements please email chloe@lemoyne.org.
  • Due to limited storage space, LeMoyne Arts will not be held responsible for items not picked up by March 11, 2024, if artists have not been approved for a pickup extension. Artwork not picked up by March 11th will be considered a donation to LeMoyne Arts.
 
Friendly reminders:
  • Please make sure to save your Eventeny login information and check your junk mail for future messages via Eventeny.
  • LeMoyne Arts is a family-friendly and safe space, please be mindful of the content represented in your work, the jury will review the piece carefully before accepting it.
  • You may submit as many pieces as you like for the jury to review. If accepted, we will assume that the piece will be delivered during artist drop-off. If a piece submitted is not going to be available for the exhibit, please let chloe@lemoyne.org know as soon as possible.
  • Accepted artists are encouraged to provide a bio/artist statement, (100-200 words, 3rd person), a headshot, and behind-the-scenes content.

Photographing your work:
  • The Artist Review Committee will be reviewing each image carefully. The quality of your photo may impact your score. 
  • Avoid glass reflections/ glare. 
  • Make sure images are properly cropped with plain white backgrounds.
  • Use appropriate lighting.
  • We do not require detail shots, 1 image should be sufficient. If you want to include a detailed shot, please note that in the title.

Please use street parking when dropping off or picking up work. We are only able to use St. John's parking across the street during special events and exhibit openings.

Terms & Conditions

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. Participants must be at least 18 years or older unless part of a group with an adult supervisor.
2. Please note all artwork dropped off must be in a plain black, silver, gold, or gunmetal frame. White or black mattes only. The frame must be in good condition, clean, and ready to hang (wire preferred). Template Required Frame Size = 8x10. 
3. If you have a high-resolution image of your artwork but are not skilled with Photoshop/ InDesign, please reach out to chloe@lemoyne.org to provide assistance.
4. We would like to display the original artwork alongside the template. Original artwork must be available for sale.
5. All work displayed MUST be original work by the artist or group collaboration. LeMoyne Arts reserves the right to reject work that does not meet the vision & goals of this project. Trademarked or copyrighted images will not be accepted! (i.e.; college logos, Disney characters, etc.)
6. By applying, all accepted applicants understand that LeMoyne Arts has permission to use submitted images for promotional purposes.
 
 
TEMPLATE DESIGN DIRECTIONS:
1. In the template provided: the Proof logo, warning, and other information need to remain as-is. Do not alter size and placement. However, color can be adjusted as needed to support your artwork. Template Required Frame Size = 8x10.

2. The Proof logo can be manipulated or recreated in other media as long as kept legible.
3. Vector or High-Resolution PDF/AI/EPS File. Other formats such as PSD/TIFF/PNG/JPG may be used.
4. Minimum Image Resolution of 300ppi (when non-vector)
5. CMYK Process Colors. Files provided in RGB will be converted to CMYK which may result in unexpected color shifts. 
6. We strongly recommend ensuring your artwork meets these minimum sizes for best results:
Text size is at least 5pt.
Line/Stroke weights are at least 0.25pt (0.5pt if reversed).
Metallic colors/effects can be used, but lighter colors generally work better than darks when printed.
 
ARTWORK PARAMETERS: 
1. All artwork must have a horizontal orientation
2. Please try to keep the piece under 24″ x 36″
3. Theme must be relevant to Tallahassee
4. All 2D media will be accepted, except for photography. 
*Please consider: Your design will be wrapped around a 3-dimensional can, therefore, the piece should look interesting from every angle and the focal point should be in the center.

  • LeMoyne's mission is to support the careers of local and regional artists, as well as artists that have a connection to Tallahassee/ LeMoyne Arts. Artists that are not from our region will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Participants must be at least 18 years or older unless part of a group with an adult supervisor.
  • All artwork must be gallery-ready. Dry, finished, signed, and ready to hang. All frames/mattes must be in good condition, wire hanging is strongly preferred. A note to consider: The condition, color, and style of a matte/ frame, canvas quality, etc. can impact sales.
  • All work displayed MUST be original work by the artist or group collaboration.
  • Trademarked or copyrighted images will not be accepted! (i.e.; college logos, Disney characters, etc.)
  • By applying, all accepted applicants understand that LeMoyne Arts has permission to use submitted images for promotional purposes.
  • LeMoyne Arts reserves the right to reject work that does not meet the vision & goals of this project. LeMoyne Arts reserves the right to exclude artwork that does not work during the curation process or if the actual piece does not reflect the quality of the digital application. LeMoyne Arts will curate and install the exhibit independently from the artists. If an artist has specific requests on placement, we will be happy to consider your request but note that the final layout will be determined by the Curator. This is a family-friendly public art project, and LeMoyne reserves the right to reject inappropriate work.
  • As a non-profit open to the public, artwork with controversial themes will be carefully reviewed by the jury before acceptance.

Pricing:
  • We ask that all original work submitted are for sale, though we do allow a few NFS if they bring quality to the exhibit and will ONLY be considered if there is space.
  • LeMoyne’s Consignment arrangement is a 60/40 split; the artist receives 60% of the sales price & LeMoyne receives 40%. We strongly suggest that artists maintain their standard pricing structure for their patrons.
  • Please remember that LeMoyne Art Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit. LeMoyne is providing the venue, marketing, staffing, installation labor, hosting special events, paying merchant fees, and managing sales and payments.
  • Please note that LeMoyne Arts Members receive 10% discounts on purchases which is deducted from LeMoyne’s cut.
  • In instances where a third party wishes to purchase or commission a similar work from the LeMoyne Arts exhibition after the exhibit has concluded, LeMoyne will act as an intermediary in arranging the transaction for a 20% commission fee. If an artist is in direct contact with the buyer, LeMoyne will kindly ask that the artist honors this 20% commission fee and pay LeMoyne within 1-week after receipt of payment.
 
While LeMoyne will not determine the pricing of artwork, we will share the following historical context (depending on a range of factors):
  • Price ranges between $75-250 = Frequent Sales
  • Price ranges between $250-500 = Regular Sales
  • Price ranges between $500-1,000 = Semi-regular Sales
  • Price ranges between $1,000-2,500 = Occasional Sales
  • Price ranges between $2,500-5,000 = Rare Sales
 
DELIVERY/PICK-UP/SHIPPING:
  • Both local and out-of-town artists are responsible for the delivery and pick up of their works. If works are being shipped, the artist is responsible for any shipping fees to and from the gallery. Upon delivery, a LeMoyne staff member will review the work for trademark issues, hanging mechanisms, and content appropriateness before acceptance. LeMoyne reserves the right to refuse any artwork upon inspection.
  • If the artist request works to be returned through a shipping carrier, the artist must indicate “Shipping” in their application or drop-off form. Additional shipping insurance is optional. If selected, insurance will be included in the shipping fees billed to the artist. Insurance value for shipping will be equal to the price of the work(s).

SHIPPING OPTIONS:
  • If work is to be returned to the artist via shipping carrier (the artist is responsible for any related fees).
  • If shipping insurance is to be purchased (at a value equal to the price of work(s)) please indicate in your application.

We ask all artists/lenders to like/follow LeMoyne Arts on social media.
  • PRICING: the artist receives 60% of the selling price for works sold from LeMoyne. LeMoyne’s commission is 40%.
  • ACCEPTANCE: If accepted, LeMoyne will request an Exhibition Agreement and W9 from the artist. LeMoyne reserves the right to refuse any submission deemed inappropriate for the exhibit.
  • HANGING: All work submitted to LeMoyne Arts must be in hanging condition (i.e. wired) any work not in hanging condition will be returned to the artist. The artist will have 24 hours to return the piece in hanging conditions.
  • Please double check that all submitted work has the corresponding information filled out.
  • I require assistance with inserting my artwork into the label template.
