Pi ART Squared is a juried show of 12” round original pieces of art. The show is hosted at Art Alchemy Art Studio in Toronto. The show will present at least one piece per artists in the studio in addition to being online at ArtAlchemy.ca. This year’s show will be March 14 (Pi R Squared Day) to Mar 24, 2024 In-Person: March 14 - 21, 2024 Online: March 14 - 24, 2024. Opening Night: Friday March 14, 2024, 7-10pm All original work will be considered – this includes painting, collage, photography, glass and mixed media. All art must be created using Rustic Burl maples tondos. All tondos will sell for $325 (CAD) – this includes shipping to the client. The Artist will keep $225 (this incudes your shipping costs) and Art Alchemy East will retain the balance to cover the marketing and curation of the show and transaction fees. The artist is responsible for getting sold art to the client. TO SUBMIT: Submit through Eventeny. Please add Eventeny to your Safe Sender list so that you don’t miss any news! Art Alchemy East invites you to submit to the now annual 2024 Pi ART SQUARED (π r 2) SHOW.

We've all heard about the traditional square foot shows, but no one can put artists in a box! The Artist needs to take materials and transform them, create their own worlds and realities, and now you can do that, in the ROUND.

Pi r-squared (π r 2) is the formula for the area of a circle of radius r. The lowercase Greek letter pi (written π ) stands for the ratio of circumference to diameter, which is the same for all circles because they all have the same shape. I just love the symmetry of that and, so, the original Art Alchemy Pi ART-squared (π r 2) Exhibition was born!

IMPORTANT DATES:

Submission Deadline: January 4, 2024.
This year’s show will be March 14 – 24, 2024 - during Pi ART Squared Day (3.14 or March 14th)
Opening Night: Thursday March 14, 2024, 7-10pm
Delivery Deadline: Please ensure final paintings are delivered to Art Alchemy (89 Research Road) by Thursday, March 7, 2024.

PANELS:

Rustic Burl is our sponsor and creates all of our Maple panels. All Pi ART Squared pieces MUST be created on Rustic Burl panels. As our sponsor, they have extended a special price to all participating Pi ART Squared artists of $20 each – a substantial discount from their usual price. Art Alchemy will send the approved artist list to Rustic Burl so that you can be sure to get your discount when you order. Please work directly with Rustic Burl for shipping – We will try and communicate where artists are located so that they can bulk ship.

PLUS…As an additional incentive, for those who participate in your event, Rustic Burl will offer 30% off your first order of tondos, any size, post show.

IN PERSON AND ONLINE EXHIBITION:

In-Person: Thursday, March 14 - Thursday, March 21, 2024, until 7:00pm
Online: Thursday, March 14 – Sunday, March 24, 2024, until 11:45pm EST.
Opening Night Gala: Thursday, March 14, 2024. All the art will be hung on the gallery walls at Art Alchemy until Thursday, March 21. Join the Alchemists in the gallery AND live on Instagram with special guest artist chats and a chat with our Sponsor Rustic Burl. And other surprises and giveaways to be announced!!!

SHIPPING YOUR ART:

All Artists are responsible for getting their sold Pi ART to the buyer – $25 of the $225 received by the artists INCLUDES the fee for shipping. We will encourage art lovers to purchase and take the art right off the walls during the opening or, if ordered online, pick it up at the Art Alchemy studio.

Terms & Conditions

SUBMISSION CRITERIA:

We appreciate that many artists have not worked in the round before, please submit 12” x 12” paintings that are similar to what you anticipate creating on a 12” round panel.

Please note, our submission process is going through the Eventeny platform – you will need to set up a FREE account (only name and email address required) in order to submit.

PARTICIPATION FEE:

There is no fee to apply.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

Final deadline is January 4, 2024, to submit. This year’s show will be limited to 50 artists. As we have a limited number of spaces in the gallery, between 1 – 3 pieces will be accepted. Acceptances will be sent out in the second week of January to give artists as much time as possible to order your panels and create their works of art.
